As I mentioned above, only folks into S&M would put a pin in a blind hole, no Detroit engineer would do it. The pin will undoubtedly clear the housing as it is driven into the bore of the pivot rod which will allow you to drive the pivot rod out. They made it 'just so long' as to accomplish this.
If I'm wrong, I'll drive to Taylors and paint your house, twice, the color of your choice!
