I'm running 235/85-16s on my half ton, they are too wide for your stock rims.
I had the centers cut out of my stock rims and welded on to new outers that are 7 inches wide bead seat to bead seat, that's roughly 8 inches outside width.

That is the widest rim you can run with your stock tie rod ends.
It is perfect, the tires fill out the wheel wells very nicely, the truck can run modern tubeless radials and the wider footprint adds much stability without sacrificing steering ease.
I am very satisfied with the way it came out.
