I got an ID plate from the Truck Shop (
www.truckandcarshop.com) for my '53. Bought a stamp set from Harbor Freight and stamped the numbers that were on the title onto the plate. The title to my truck must've been lost at some point as the number is not a factory number but it really doesn't matter to me, the number on the title now matches the number on the doorpost and the DMV here in WA is happy.
As you say, aside from the weight they are the same.
