I have a 46 also and I''ve been everywhere doing the same thing, I've heard that swapping an s10 frame is the way to go. Reg. cab long bed gives ind.front susp. disc brakes ,power steering, frame mounted gas tank,steering column,e-brake. some people even use the wiring harness. you should be able to put your camaro rear right on it.There are a couple of websites that have bolt on kits to make the swap if your pockets can handle it. check out olskoolrods.com and THE H.A.M.B.COM great sites, great people good luck, let us know how you make out.
