I just converted my 261 to an alternator.I had a problem with the battery draining.The problem was my pigtail that plugs into the internal regulator.The red and white wires were in the wrong position in the plug.After switching them to their correct position,problem solved.

Automarc has posted good instructions as to the position of the wires.
