Install a set of Sealed Power flattop hypereutectic pistons, a Comp Cams 268H cam, and a set of 58CC heads with 1.94" intake valves and 1.6" exhausts, with .550" lift single valve springs. Get a factory aluminum intake and a Quadrajet carb, and run dual exhausts with stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and 2 1/2" pipes through mid-70's Cadillac mufflers. You'll make your target HP and torque, with a building cost for the engine of just under $3,000.00.

Edit: Drop by my shop at McGavock High School in Nashville, and I'll put you in touch with several people at the fairgrounds race track who run my engines, some of them 305's. They like them!
