#46233 06/13/2005 2:20 AM | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 363 Member | | Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 363 | It was common practice to put an 848 (hi compression 235) head on a 261 to up the compression, most knuckleheads didn't drill the steam holes and voila a cracked head.
You need to get the casting number off the block, heads can be swapped and are not good for identifying motors.
