Sorry, I could not find a "new post" link in the main forum, so I'm doing a reply.
I have a 4 bbl Quadra on my daughters 82 Olds Delta 88 307 Y engine (not orig carb, non-electronic) A friend helped me rebuild it about 4 years ago. About a week ago, it would not start without pouring gas into the carb, then would run fine. The bottom plugs were sealed when it was rebuilt. I changed the fuel pump, and after that it would not remain running after pouring gas into the carb. I removed the fuel line and it is pumping fuel, I removed the fuel filter even though it looked OK, still will not remain running. I do not see any jets of fuel when the accel is depressed. I noticed that the accelerator pump rod was stuck down. I cleaned and loosened up but still not running. Do you think its the Accel pump or float? Why would switching the fuel pump make it completely cease to run?
