| | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 37 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 37 | My 1949 Chevy 216 is almost ready to roll again after installing new rods and main bearings. I just have a few more questions and really appreciate all the great advice you've given me so far.....
ENGINE:
1. should I prime the oil pump prior to cranking the engine? If so, how is the best accomplished?
2. I plan to use high-tack gasket spray on the head gasket surfaces. Gasket is a FelPro, looks like it's made of metal with a blue coating on both sides. Is this a good idea or should it be installed dry?
3. Should I use gasket spray on the exhaust/intake manifold gaskets?
As always, other advice is also welcome - just want to get this bad boy back in business after chipping away at it for the past couple of months.
