if you are talking about the cylindrical objetct that is similar in shape to the vibrator and is mounted in the horizontal, that is the main filter capacitor. Probably when your radio is working, one of the connections on there would have between 200 and 300 V dc on it. It wouldln't right now because the power supply isn't working. This could be caused by the vibrator.
