I have recently searched for this info on my truck & will share what I learned.
Check this site & you will see what the orginal ID tag looks like. It should be on the passenger cowl under the hood. Mine was missing.

The numbers stamped next to the Chassis No. on the tag will surfice for your VIN #. This number gives youu all the info below.
If your truck IS a 1946 1/2 ton, the tag will either have a # CK or DP a letter plus 5 #'s. It will be something like this
3 CK (DP) B 19943
3 = Assembly plant
CK = 1st series
DP = 2nd series
(There was a strike Nov 21,1945(lasted 113 days; CK before strike, DP after strike).
B = month built
19943 = production number.
The engine ID # is stamped on a flat plate next to the Distributer.
From the Info. I gathed, there are no serial #'s stamped in the frame or other areas. Only on the cowl tag.
