Well, the further forward the better, however I believe the 7 or 12.65 locations would work. The shifter on my 59 gmc is about 12 inches back from the bellhousing. I am using an NV4500. We may be discussing apples and oranges here because the bellhousing of a gmc v8 truck is further forward than a chevy's bellhousing. Safest bet is to get the shift location as close to stock as possible. Seems like the front shift would move you back 2 and 1/2 inches.
