I hope this is the right forum.
I included this issue at the bottom of a thread I had going with my engine trouble but it didn't get much action.
I just had a 235 with Tremec 500 installed in my truck. The combination seems pretty good from a drivability perspective. At about 500 miles, the speedometer quit. The tranny is new and the cable is new. The speedometer in the dash is original with about 20,000 miles on it. I got no warning, but the speedometer housing in the tranny is now leaking oil.
The engine shop has had the truck back for about 2.5 weeks now and just came back and told me the speedometer head (dash) froze up and took out the gear in the tranny. Make sense to you? I haven't gotten it back yet so I haven't taken anything apart to see what I can see.
what will I see? I've had the dash out before but I didn't take it apart except to replace the chrome bezel. I thought my shop manual would help - nope! Where can I get pictures and/or instructions on what that head looks like and what the parts look like?
Thanks for your help.
