You'll get lots of differing opinions on this subject. That said, Rotella will be fine, just make sure you get the stuff for the older designation, the newer stuff is low zinc as Deisels are going the same way as gas engines. Valvoline is also a good bet. Make sure to put a couple of bottles of EOS or Crane Cams break in lube to run it in. Once it's broken in, you can use conventional oil, although many on here stay with Rotella. Personally, I use Valvoline Super HPO 30 wt, as Valvoline has not dropped their zinc levels like the other brands have. I still haven't got a definitive answer on synthetics, yet, other than to not use them until the engine is thoroughly broken in.
