If you do put any kind of wax on it be sure to use a good wax & grease remover on any surface you intend to paint BEFORE sanding. If you sand it first you can drive wax residue into the surface that can be difficult to clean out. When using wax & grease remover wipe it on wet and wipe it off before it dries. If you let it dry before wiping it off all you did was move any wax to a different location. Use lots of clean rags.
