That style of engine ID started being used in 1957:
F315A
F = built in Flint, MI
3 = March
15 = 15th day of that month
A = 235 engine in a car with a standard/manual transmission
This information does not help with the year. Maybe you can find the
block and head date casting codes and post them here? All 1957 and later automobile 235 engines came with hydraulic lifters.
