I always thought that too . . . but the YF is listed as applied to Chevrolet 6's from 1937 to the late 50's and a Carter is detailed in the 48..51 Chevy Truck Shop manual, but NOT the YF model. I put it together and it started right up, no longer runs rich and accel pump seems to work good. . . still back fires through the carb though. Time to check valve timing - wish I had a dial indicator!
