on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 81 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 81 | I am prepairing to paint my 1960 apache back to original color.I can tell from the hidden backside of the cab and under fender that the original color was a medium green. On a web site offering a library of colors, I find two listing for green: a Hemlock green and a Neptune green. The Neptune green looks correct; the hemlock green appears to be much too dark. I can find no tag anywhere listing paint codes but have the codes from the web site. I am satisfied with going with the Neptune green as a solid color. According to info in the restoration package I received from General Motors, it is stated that the wheels are black. I would like to know if the eyebrows ( the inset panel surrounding the parking lamps) should be painted black or should they be the Bombay Ivory. I seem to remember seeing them as Bombay Ivory. A second question has to do with using clearcote over the original type paint. Has anybody had a problem with doing this? A few years back I had a hood with hail damage. I bought a new hood, had it painted with the factory type paint then oversprayed with clearcote. It looked great until we had a hard freeze and then the clearcote cracked all over. meansam | | | |
