I am in the beginning stages of restoring a 1935 1 ½ ton Chevrolet truck (157 in. wheelbase) and am pondering the likelihood of swapping the truck’s original 207 for a 235 engine. Does anyone have experience with this or comments regarding the problems I may encounter?
I’m keeping the original mechanical brakes and am wondering if the bell housing will at all interchange between these motors (the pedal linkage is an integral part of the 207 housing). If they won’t swap, what options do I have? How about the motor mounts on these two motors – are there any major differences that will affect the installation?
I don’t yet have a 235 but potentially have a circa 1951 that would work. Any thoughts against using this motor versus a later one?
Any thoughts, leads, suggestions are much appreciated.
