There are two basic I-6 HEI distributors, one with a remote coil, the other with the coil integral with the cap like a V-8 HEI. The basic module and pickup coil is the same, with only minor wiring differences and a different distributor cap. Either one should be a drop-in fit to the block on your 230. I've done several conversions on 216/235/261 engines with a little machining to correct oil pump drive concerns. Nothing like eliminating that periodic point/condenser change and getting a hotter spark in the process!
