Yes tee, cus it’s plated, well at least for now it’s painted, but as soon as I get enough stuff together for a batch it will all go into the Zinc tank for plating.
I'm workin’ from the outside in Big. when everything but the frame and cab is finished I'll pull it all apart and do them. Now if that sounds bass ackwords ya, you get the brass ring.
Probably gonna take ten times longer like this but I figure It will only be undrivable for a couple of months this way. So far I've been able to drive it when ever I've wanted to except for some four or five day sessions where something was being restored. I realize I'm gonna have to do a bunch of touching up to do in the end but that's a lot better than having a whole pile of parts sitting around waiting a few years to get put back together while they all get restored.
Main point of the exercise is the 1/2-ton track jobs are fairly easy to find and they can be converted to a 3/4-ton with little effort if one is seeking that original look.
As far as a real working spare goes, I’m just spread the story that in ’53 when the side mounts became available, farmer Graham went down to Phil O’Keefe Chevy where he bought the truck new and had them put one on his ’50, 3604. Makes for a good story and besides, this old gal taint never gonna have a AACA or VCCA judge looking it over for points anyway. And its fun to fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but of course you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
