I did this on my 1 Ton Panel. I bought the modified Bell housing from Chev's of the 40's. You may be able to have your spare modified to accept the pedals. It was just three tapped holes, as I remember.
The SM 420 is much bigger than the crash box, so expect to shorten your forward drives shaft. I also had to trim a little on the cross member.
