I am as excited as a little girl! I get to put my engine back together finally. Now comes the hard part for me though, I have to take my time! I am trying to be patient and smart so I am going to ask some questions that I cant find answers for in my Maintenance manual.

1) My manual states that the compression ring for my 270 should have a beveled edge on the inside top of the ring and the B and C grooves should have tapered rings. My ring set is just the opposite. I have 6 straight rings marked for FIRST GROOVE and 12 beveled edge rings marked for SECOND GROOVE. Can anyone clarify?

2) How should the ring gaps be oriented to one another? 180 degrees off from each other, 90 degrees, .... ?

3) Is there any problem lubing up the connecting rod bearing and Drive shaft jornal? Can/should both sides of the bearing be lubed?

As you can see I am trying to get my pistons in and I have the questions that I cannot find answers to. If you have any other tips, I would love to hear them.

Thanks,

Tom
