| | | | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 114 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2008 Posts: 114 | I have several 409 truck short blocks with major pitting/corrosion on the top of the block and rusty and weak bolt hole threads. These blocks were usually run out and tossed into the junk pile without having been bored out. My father had some sleeved and bored back in the mid 1960's but they never worked out so once they started using alot of oil he replaced the entire block with a new factory shortblock. Now-a-days these 409 engines are somewhat rare and in demand. I know that these blocks can be bored out to some degree but can the top deck area be repaired if there is heavy pitting and the head bolt holes rethreaded? If not I have some good scrap metal to sell. JAMES | | |
