I would think the T-5 would work fine behind a mild 283. Going to the open driveline gives you a bunch of gear ratio options. Do a search on some of my other posts. We had some discussion a while back on this same subject an a lot of good ideas came out of them. I'm doing a similar project with my 46 ½ ton.
