jim, i love the pics of the pitman arm.
i am a green horn machinst, and was wondering if you know or could ask your buddy mitch how he put the vertical splines into the holes when a mill turns horizontaly ?
i have put splines on the o.d. of a shaft before, rotary table mounted horizontaly, standing up on the bed, but cant for the life of me see how you can put splines with the set up you show.
it must be a tool i have never seen.
like i said, i am a green horn. LOL. but i love to learn. i even showed my buddy at work who is teaching me and he couldnt explain.
he said it looked like it was broached. is it a broaching tool in the mill ? i doubt it, since you really need some force when using a broach.
