I know for sure a Ford 292 pulley from the fifties will work. I'm sure there are others but I haven't seen where anyone IDed them. You are correct about not cutting until you have the pulley to eyeball in.

A stock one will do you no good. Too long. You need one close to the same diameter as stock. A smaller one will turn the pump too fast.
