That's a lot of money for ending up with the same final drive (1:1). There is no difference between 3rd gear in a three speed trans. and 4th in a 4 speed trans. With that 4.10 rear you're not going anywhere in a hurry either way.
I would go to LAROKE's wonderful pages to tighten up my 3 speed column shifter for short money, for the long money there are a plethora of ways to make her go from A to B.
Look in the Gallery and email someone who has a truck like yours and ask what they've done, better yet, ask if they could do it over what they would do. Anyway you do it it's your trip and we'll all support you no matter what decision you make.
