Nice truck!
The engine can be started with 12 volts, but don't crank it too long as to burn it out. I ran my old GMC suburban that way for over 5 years and sold it with the same six volt starter.
I noticed the engine is a later 235, check the casting numbers to see what year.
What's with asking the questions and then ignoring the answer? You're lucky that you only lost a tire!
