I filled mine a little at a time. Raise it up - fill a little, lower it down and make sure it doesn't run over and repeat till it stops cavitating when it gets to the top of stroke.
I have a newer dump truck that I made the mistake of over filling once while it was raised. When it was lowered . . . whooosh . . . BOOOM! The screw on breather cap blew apart and I had hydraulic oil everywhere under the truck! :o
Don't over fill - the results can be messy!
