Hi everyone. i am having an issue with my 62 surging under torque, I thought that it was an electrical break down in the distributor so i changed the points and condensor, and adjusted them, i grounded the distributor to the block and soldiered new terminals to the wires attaching the coil to the dist. ect.ect.
It seemed to run better for a while but now its is back
i rebuilt the carb 9 months ago with a new carb kit, rochester b
I am now thinking that it is a fuel issue. i have a glass filter with the copper insert, i checked this out and it is clean. i am thinking that now its one of two things, 1. fuel pressure from pump to high, or 2. float level. i am having another issue with the carb i should mention, hot start ups after sitting for a few minutes results in floaded conditions, i allow it to sit and she starts right up.
in cold mornings it seem to run without the surging, but today it was 91 outside and i tried to pull up a hill under torque and it was bucking, i had rpms in the power curve. i dont know whats wrong, i bought another rebuild kit and a gallon of some carb soak parts cleaner and i will try and rebuild it again, this time i will check fuel float level, i dont know what it should be, the carb kit came with a guage to use for this but no instructions, and also i will try a fuel pressure regulator, i notice the level of gas in the fuel filter is topped out, the fuel filter bowl is half full sometimes except when i drive it for a few mintes under any torque.
if anyone has any input i would love to hear it.
