I had another thought on this. If your speedo is out of calibration then your odometer likely is too. Maybe you're going farther on a gallon than your odo is showing (?)
Drive around the block a few times, then do the same route with the family sedan and compare your odometer readings. Maybe the news isn't as bad as it seems.
