I am doing the same in my 50 model with a 5.3 out of a 2006 Tahoe. why wont the stock compressor work?
If you use the most common type of LS engine mount adaptors, which adapt the LS engines to regular smallblock mounts, they come forward enough on the side of the block to preclude getting the AC compressor mounted without interference.
