I welded in a rectangular tubing to provide a place to secure the straps at the front of the tank. Two more tubes are welded in at the top to give the tank a secure hold when the straps are tightened. The tank is about 2 feet from the rear of the bed and pushed up within 2 inches of the wood bed floor. It clears the axle by 2 inches in the front.Standing behind the truck ,you dont really notice the tank. Many sedans and SUV's have fuel tanks more exposed than mine made of 16 guage steel.
