I agree silicone sprays have their uses but not in this instance!
I fit glass for a living and never use anything other than plain old glass cleaner. It wont 'hurt' the paint finish or the rubber!
4ontheFloor's right, silicone will contaminate your paint and may cause problems for any future paint remedial work!
