Hello - Newbie question. I couldn't find an answer to this using the Search function.
I'm trying to start the "it ran for my brother when it was parked 25 years ago" 1951 Chev with a 216. When I first tried it no gas was getting to the carb, so (1) gas tank has been steamed out, (2) new fuel lines, (3) new fuel pump, and (4) rebuilt the carb.
The parts have all arrived and now I'm installing the new fuel pump, but it seems odd. Should there be a push rod to actuate the pump, or is it driven directly off the cam? When I poke around inside the cavity where the fuel pump goes I can feel what seems to be a cam lobe at the top of the cavity. Is that all there is, or am I missing a push rod?
