The most useful tool for do glass like that is a fiber stick, AKA paddle. Go to your local glass shop and buy one.
Or better yet have them install it.
Time is money even if you don't pay yourself. It's well worth the headaches you are getting.
The locking strip is another story, special tools are needed but may be obtainable from your local FLAPS that sell carlisle tools.
