Greetings! This past weekend I began replacing the window regulators in my 63 pickup. When I got to the screws holding it in place, I was greeted by a set of screws I was not familiar with. Each looks like a standard flat head, except the groove is about a quarter-inch long and about twice the width of a standard flat head screw. Sort of like a squashed oval in the head.
The folks at my local auto parts stor say it must have required a specialty screwdriver 45 years ago, and they have no idea what it would have been...however they are happy to sell me the items needed to rip out the original screws and put new standards in.
Before I did so, I was hoping some of y'all with experience and an appreciation for using original tools, rather than ripping out and replacing, might be able to help me.
Did this require a special screwdriver. If so, where the heck would I find one?
