I'm dropping a 454 big block into my 1958 GMC Suburban Carryall. I noticed that Jim Carter sells accelerator linkage with a firewall bracket for use when putting in a V-8 where the six cylinder used to be. Carter says "necessary if removing the original 6 cylinder." Pardon my ignorance, but why is it "necessary"? You also have to buy a different accelerator pedal (1952-1957).

Does anybody have an explanation?
