Thanks, Denny, that's exactly it. I completely forgot about that little cover. That cover allows you to get at the freeze plug on the back of a GMC engine without removing the bellhousing but since you have to take the engine out anyway I'm not sure how much good it really does, except to give your hand a sharp edge to scrape on when you are pulling the bolts.
