I don't know "nuttin" about a '36 truck, but will say that the actual cost of the bearings and seals associated with the stock box can't cost much. If the worm and sector needed to be replaced that might be another issue.

I would imagine that the initial cost of the Vega box would only be the tip of the iceberg. Mating it with the '36 column would involve time and money.

I don't know what end result you are looking for, other than a nice tight reliable steering box, but I would surely scout out parts availability and costs for the stock box, then tear it apart to see exactly what it did need to bring it back to health.

If it was toast, then I would weight the cost of a rebuild against the labor and cost of installing a different box.
