49erGal: The flat spots have to match king pin to bolt but I'm sure you are aware of this. Lightly hammer on the lock pin if it won't budge make sure the inside race hasn't slid down just a hair.
Change mine a year ago and had to lighty tap to get them to go thru. Guarenteed you want them tight.
