Just as Tim said. A lot of the valve covers have been over tightened thru the years and distorted around the holes.
I would remove the valve cover and either put a straight edge along the long sides or just set it on a flat surface and see where its wharped out of whack. Ive seen people use 2 gaskets,,but you shouldnt have to do that.
