| | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 13 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 13 | Yup been there! Most places sell a pair that have the 3" tube cut out but they are 2-1/2" wide, so they won't work with the 2" OE springs.
Also, in doing this, are you changing from a torque tube to a newer style driveline? If so, BEWARE .... you will need to use some offset plates to offset the spring centers. (The torque changes from one rear drive type to the other)
Your options are as follows:
1) Buy a kit that has all the parts to convert for $150.00 or so.
2) Make your own seats (like I did) from some C-channel iron.
3) Use spacers on the U-bolts (some steel tubing over the bolts).
4) Buy the 2-1/2 seats and cut them in 2 and re-weld narrower.
5) Make sure you buy the offset plates to move the centerline of the axle on the springs or you will have wheel hop and wheel alignment issues.
