I live in central California near Fresno. There is only one shop in the area that will work on these old hydro's, and the price I have been quoted is $1400.00 to $1600.00 depending on what parts are needed. There are a lot of special tools required so most shops won't touch them. I am putting a standard transmission in my '54 GMC, also the foot starter.
