The whole vent window post and window track have to come out as one piece. I think there are 3 or 4 screws around the outside of the door that hold the top of the vent window frame in place, and then one or two bolts behind the door panel that hold the bottom of the window track. I can't recall for sure, but you may have to loosen the rear track as well. Then with the window down, the whole vent window frame, post and track should lift out the top. Hope that helps.
