Use Brakleen to clean the parts. NO, if fluid or grease from axle on shoes, they are done. You may be able to clean and get to work for awhile, but they will "bleed" out the oil in deeper and start to grab bad. I've done that on a big truck and even had one wheel locking up till I backed up some. It had like new linings, just got fluid on them. If bigger truck you can have recovered at brake shops cheaper than new shoes and most hard to find big shoes anyway. Most half-ton shoes are easy to find at vendors. From 51 they go way into 60's as same shoes. Replace springs and hardware if you can find it all. Chevs of the 40s has lots of parts for brakes, but need to open wallet wider!
