If you're talking about swapping a '55 1st series, Advance Design style body grille, for a '47-'53 grille, yes it can be done. You'll just need to swap the entire front clip, of the earlier truck, to your '55 1st series. Back in the day, in my area, it was alot of '54/'55 Chevy trucks running around with '47-'53 front clips.
