Being somewhat nostalgic myself, the manual is a good way to go. Electrics are ok and usually work fine but....unlike hot water choke they come on too soon after sitting a short while when you don't really need it working. Plus, they burn out and sometimes the wiring breaks on them and they don't open like they should. Also you can push it in when YOU want to, not when it wants to. You might want just a little choke instead of a closed one racing at too high an idle especially when you don't need a high idle waisting gas. Easier on the tranny if its an automatic. Some electrics kick off too soon and others take forever to open all the way up. Also they can stick easier. My wife doesn't know how to use one so I have an electric for now. Just my two cents worth.
