Woody,I was hoping this one could get me and my truck down the road until that "new" engine is completed.
In that case, get it to turn over by hand and fire that sucker up! For all that's made about doing it right, these engines are tanks and will give you service even in terrible condition.
I had my head serviced - all valves ground, seated and the head decked for $75. I'd say that's a bargain for the peace of mind. I could bolt my engine back together today and drive it if I just needed something to get me on the road... rusty cylinders and all.
